Uganda Unveils 2026 National Exam Timetables as Candidate Numbers Hit Record 1.6 Million
Kampala, Uganda — The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially released the timetables for the 2026 national examinations, revealing a record-breaking 1,627,885 registered candidates. This marks a significant 14.9% jump in candidate numbers compared to the previous year.
The announcement, made on September 23, outlines the schedule for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). The examination series will officially commence with briefings in October and run through early December.
According to the released timetable, the examination schedule is as follows:
· Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE): Briefing on Thursday, 8th October; Exams end on Tuesday, 3rd November.
· Primary Leaving Examination (PLE): Briefing on Friday, 30th October; Exams end on Wednesday, 4th November.
· Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE): Briefing on Friday, 7th November; Exams end on Friday, 5th December.
The exams are being conducted under the theme: “Advancing Excellence in Assessment and Certification through Secure, Credible, Inclusive and Innovative Processes.”
UNEB emphasized the importance of candidates verifying their registration details and ensuring accessibility for all. This includes providing Braille versions for visually impaired students to guarantee an inclusive testing environment.
In a message shared by the Ministry of Education and Sports, officials extended their best wishes to all candidates. “Success to all candidates! As you enter the final stretch towards your UCE, PLE and UACE examinations, the Ministry encourages you to stay focused, disciplined, and confident,” the statement read.
The Government of Uganda also confirmed the release via its official channels, tagging the updates with #UNEB2026 as the nation prepares for the upcoming examination season.
