Kampala – The Anti-Corruption Court has charged Jennifer Etit Okaka, the Human Resource Manager of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), with corruption, abuse of office, and causing financial loss to the government.
Prosecutors allege that Okaka failed to update the CAA payroll, an omission that resulted in a loss of Shs14 million to the state. The alleged offences were committed during her tenure as a senior administrator at the aviation body.
Okaka appeared before court earlier today and was remanded to Luzira Prison until August 14, 2025, when her bail application will be heard.
The case comes amid an intensified crackdown on financial mismanagement in public institutions, following recommendations in the Auditor General’s 2023 report on irregularities in the government payroll system.
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, which oversees operations at Entebbe International Airport, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the case.
