FIFA Cuts 2026 World Cup Ticket Prices with New $60 “Supporter Entry Tier”
In a move responding to widespread criticism over steep costs, FIFA has announced a significant reduction in ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup, introducing a new category where selected fans can attend matches for as little as $60—including the final.
The new “Supporter Entry Tier” will offer a limited number of tickets priced at $60 per match. This stands in stark contrast to previously announced top-tier prices, which had soared as high as $4,185 for the most premium seats at the final. The discounted tickets will be distributed through national football federations, intended to reward loyal supporters of each competing nation.
The decision follows public and media backlash regarding the affordability of the tournament, which will be co-hosted across 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Many of the venues will be large American football stadiums, including 11 NFL stadiums in the U.S., which offer high capacities but also come with premium pricing structures.
FIFA stated that the initiative aims to ensure a more inclusive and passionate atmosphere in the stands by facilitating access for dedicated fans. The global football governing body has faced pressure to balance the commercial demands of the world’s largest sporting event with the traditional spirit of supporter accessibility.
The 2026 World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams and will be the most expansive in history, spanning three nations. With the new pricing tier, FIFA seeks to address concerns that the event could become inaccessible to average supporters, emphasizing a commitment to the fans who form the core of the sport’s global community.
Distribution details and the exact number of tickets available under the subsidized tier will be managed by individual national football associations in the lead-up to the tournament.
