JK Kazoora’s Urgent Warning to General MK: “You Need a New Team”
Social media strategist criticizes General MK’s handlers, calling them “10 years behind” in digital engagement
In a candid video message that has sparked widespread discussion, social media strategist JK Kazoora has issued a stark warning to General MK, urging him to overhaul his social media team following what he describes as a “career-breaking” misstep.
The Numbers Game: Then and Now
Kazoora, speaking directly to General MK and his handlers, drew a sharp contrast between social media strategies of the past and the current digital landscape. He recalled how, a decade ago, the strategy was simple: grow follower numbers through provocative content and engagement-baiting tactics.
“10 years ago Bobi Wine had about 2 million followers on X. President Museveni had more. You had about 200 to 500,000,” Kazoora explained.
He detailed how the team employed sarcasm and controversy to drive engagement—making bold statements about attacking Jay-Z, referencing Beyoncé and Charlotte, threatening to “attack Kenya in 48 hours,” and stirring banter across Nigeria, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
“The numbers, you got numbers, yeah, which was good,” Kazoora acknowledged. “But now social media has changed.”
The Algorithm Shift
Kazoora emphasized that the rules of digital engagement have fundamentally transformed. The era of follower count dominance is over, replaced by what he calls “interest algorithm media.”
“It’s no longer about someone with 7 million followers, whatever you say, then they are going to listen to you. No,” he stated firmly.
He explained the shift toward platforms like X (formerly Twitter) where users now navigate between “Following” and “For You” feeds—the latter driven entirely by individual interests and engagement patterns.
“If I’m interested in your content and you put it, I’m going to see it. If I’m not, I’m going to flip.”
Kazoora illustrated this point with his own metrics: despite having only 10,000 followers, his content regularly attracts millions of views—over 2 million for his video on Chira, and even higher numbers for his Ebola coverage.
The “Career-Breaking” Mistake
The core of Kazoora’s warning centered on what he considers a catastrophic error by General MK’s team—the handling of the Mulodi situation.
While Kazoora acknowledged that arresting Mulodi might be justifiable, he condemned the decision to post photographs of Mulodi “in the basement in pampers.”
“That is… [sighs]. No. Bro, no,” Kazoora expressed with visible frustration. “You need a new team now. They are 10 years behind. Yeah, that was a classic mistake.”
He warned of the potential consequences: “If Mulodi by chance had died, we wouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t be here now. There would be trouble in town. Oh my god. That man is one of the most loved politicians in this country.”
A Final Message
Kazoora concluded his address with a pointed critique of the current team’s approach: “You’ve learned nothing and forgotten nothing.”
The message serves as both a warning and an urgent call for strategic evolution, as General MK’s digital presence faces increasing scrutiny in an ever-changing social media landscape.
