OREM, Utah — In the aftermath of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, President Donald Trump has asserted that political violence in the United States originates from the left. He pointed to acts like flag burnings and anti-American rhetoric as evidence, while also revealing that the FBI has opened investigations into individuals associated with leftist groups in connection to the killing.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot on September 10th on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The investigation led to the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson two days later, after his family reportedly contacted authorities to express concerns over his radicalization and vehement opposition to Kirk’s political views.
The probe has since expanded beyond the alleged shooter. Law enforcement is now examining online pro-trans communities and leftist organizations for potential involvement or influence in the attack.
Trump’s comments have ignited a fresh political firestorm. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, among others, criticized the former president, accusing him of fostering division and politicizing the tragedy.
As the investigation continues, tributes to Kirk are being organized across the conservative movement. Vice President JD Vance announced he will host a special episode of Kirk’s show in his honor. The organization Kirk founded, Turning Point USA, is also planning a major memorial event scheduled for September 21st.
