
Key Suspect Arrested in Murder of UCU Director Pamela Tumusiime
Police have arrested a key suspect in connection with the murder of Pamela Tumusiime, the Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), after recovering property belonging to the deceased in his possession.
The suspect, identified as Taewaiko Dak Hussein, was apprehended on February 14, 2026, in Budaka District by the Joint Security Task Team investigating the killing. Preliminary findings indicate that Hussein was a former house help to the deceased.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Public Relations Officer Racheal Kawala confirmed the breakthrough in investigations, stating that the suspect was found with critical evidence linking him to the crime.
“The suspect was found with the deceased’s property, a critical piece of evidence linking him to the murder,” Kawala said. She added that preliminary findings indicate the suspect was a former house help to the deceased.
The Murder
Tumusiime, 46, was killed in the early hours of February 11, 2026, at her home in Seeta, Mukono District. Police earlier revealed that she was strangled at approximately 2:00 am.
Her brutal killing sent shockwaves through the university community and the wider public, prompting security agencies to form a joint task team dedicated to solving the case.
University Mourns
Uganda Christian University has described her passing as a great loss to the institution. The university confirmed that she had served as Director of Student Affairs and was a member of senior management, playing a crucial role in student welfare and administration.
Investigation Continues
Kawala assured the public that investigations are still ongoing and that police will provide more updates as progress is made. The suspect remains in custody as detectives prepare to present him before court.
The arrest marks a significant step forward in the case, which has drawn widespread attention and concern since Tumusiime’s body was discovered earlier this month.
