ODPP Advances Digital Strategy in High-Level Engagement with Regional Officers
KAMPALA, UGANDA | March 30, 2026 — The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) today brought together Top Management and Regional Officers for a high-level engagement focused on strengthening data management and enhancing institutional performance.
The meeting served as a platform for candid dialogue aimed at evaluating existing data systems, harmonizing operational priorities, and forging a clear pathway toward evidence-based decision-making across all regions.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. John Baptist Asiimwe, emphasized the critical role of accurate and timely data in the administration of justice. He urged Regional Officers to take personal accountability for the integrity of information emanating from their jurisdictions, noting that the quality of prosecutorial decisions is fundamentally dependent on the reliability of the data that informs them.
Mr. Asiimwe further explained that the engagement was designed to build consensus on practical and dependable data tools that would bolster consistency, accountability, and institutional clarity within the Office.
Setting a decisive tone for the Office’s future, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Hon. Lino Anguzu, announced a firm shift toward a robust digital transformation agenda. He called on Regional Officers to embrace this transition with urgency, enhance their technological proficiency, and actively position themselves as champions of a modern and responsive prosecution service.
Hon. Anguzu also issued a strong caution against any lapses in ethical conduct and reiterated the importance of supervision, inspection, and performance oversight. He stressed that leadership at the regional level must translate into tangible efficiency, discipline, and measurable results among staff.
The engagement underscores the ODPP’s commitment to leveraging technology and data-driven strategies to improve prosecutorial effectiveness and uphold the highest standards of justice delivery.
