
Uganda Hosts Non-Aligned Movement Summit, Focusing on Global Cooperation and Reform

KAMPALA, Uganda – Uganda inaugurated the 19th Mid-Term Ministerial Review Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on Monday, October 13, 2025, bringing together delegates from its 121 member states to discuss enhanced international cooperation.
The conference, held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, operates under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence.” The gathering began with a Senior Officials’ Meeting, which was opened by Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar.

In his address, Minister Abubakhar emphasized the need for unity and solidarity among member nations. Key objectives outlined for the conference include advancing South-South partnerships, revitalizing economies through trade and technological exchange, and addressing pressing geopolitical concerns. Among the specific issues highlighted for discussion are the ongoing Palestine question and the push for reforms within the United Nations.
The discussions at the senior officials’ level are expected to shape the core agenda for the ministerial-level talks that will follow. Full participation from member states has been confirmed.
Notably, the Indian delegation is actively involved in the proceedings. Secretary (West) Randhir Jaiswal stated on social media platform X that Ambassador Sibi George is leading the Indian contingent at the Senior Officials’ Meeting, underscoring India’s continued engagement within the movement.
