ENTEBBE TIGHTENS SECURITY TO CURB UNINVITED VISITORS SEEKING PRESIDENT
Entebbe, Uganda — April 4, 2026
Authorities in Entebbe have announced a series of security measures aimed at stopping the growing number of uninvited individuals who travel to the lakeside town in attempts to ambush the President of Uganda.
In a letter dated 31st March 2026, Mr. Frank Kyazze, Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Entebbe Sub-District, wrote to the Commandant of the Special Forces Command (SFC) outlining decisions made by the District Security Committee.
The letter, referenced RDC/EBB/85/26, states that the issue of uninvited guests flooding Entebbe and attempting to approach the President had become increasingly unmanageable, prompting the District Regional Development Committee (DRDC) to table the matter before the District Security Committee, which convened on 26th March 2026.
FOUR KEY SECURITY DIRECTIVES
Following deliberations, the District Security Committee resolved to implement four measures:
- Fencing of Katabi Playground (Kitubulu) — The Town Clerk has been directed to fence off the playground, identified as a common gathering point for these individuals.
- Routine Highway Patrols — Security personnel are to maintain regular patrols along the highway to enable swift response should any suspicious activity be detected.
- Cordoning of the Children’s Park and Mayor’s Garden — Both public spaces are to be cordoned off immediately to prevent them from being used as congregation points.
- Notification of Key Officials — The SFC Commandant, Head of Protocol, and the State House Administrator are to be formally informed of all measures taken, so that appropriate guidance can be provided.
BACKGROUND
Entebbe, home to State House — the official residence of Uganda’s President — has long been a destination for citizens seeking direct access to the head of state. Security officials say the trend has grown significantly, with crowds of uninvited visitors repeatedly descending on the town and creating security concerns for the presidency.
The letter was signed by Mr. Frank Kyazze under the official stamp of the Office of the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Entebbe Sub-District, under the broader Office of the President of the Republic of Uganda.
Authorities have urged members of the public to use proper official channels when seeking to engage with government, rather than traveling to Entebbe uninvited.
