KAMPALA – A local woman, Maria Assumpta Nakamya, has taken to social media to issue an urgent public appeal, alleging that DFCU Bank has unlawfully frozen her account for three months without a court order or justification.
In a detailed post on Facebook, Nakamya shared what she describes as a “shocking experience” with the financial institution. She stated that the funds in question originated from a legitimate land sale transaction, which she deposited into her account.
According to her account, all attempts to resolve the matter directly with the bank have been met with frustration. She specifically named two members of the bank’s legal team, Lusiba Muhammad and Kiwanuka Muhammad, accusing them of “unprofessional behavior” and alleging they are “more interested in stealing my money than helping me.”
The post has been framed as a call to action, directly tagging the official social media accounts of @dfcugroup and the Bank of Uganda (@Bol_Official), the country’s central bank and financial regulator. Nakamya is urging these bodies to launch an immediate investigation into her case and ensure justice is served.
She has also called for solidarity from the public, asking others who may have had similar experiences with DFCU Bank to share their stories to demand accountability collectively.
The allegations raise serious concerns about banking practices and customer rights in Uganda. As of the time of reporting, neither DFCU Bank nor the Bank of Uganda has issued a public statement regarding these specific claims.
The hashtags #DFCUBank, #Accountability, #Justice, #Banking, and #Uganda accompanied the post, suggesting an effort to broaden the reach of her complaint and put pressure on the involved institutions.
