Armed Robbers on Motorcycles Steal 25 Million Shillings in Daylight Kira Attack
KIRA, UGANDA — In a brazen midday robbery, a woman’s car was ambushed by machete-wielding assailants riding on boda bodas (motorcycle taxis) along Bulindo Road in Kira Municipality yesterday. The attackers smashed every window of the vehicle and fled with 25 million shillings in a heist that lasted less than three minutes.
The incident, captured on CCTV, was shared online by Kamara Saleem, who identified the victim as his sister. According to eyewitness accounts, the car’s owner sounded an alarm during the attack, but the speed and violence of the robbery left onlookers stunned and unable to intervene.
“The thugs used less than three minutes to break into the car and take off,” one source explained. “People didn’t understand what was happening until it was over.”
The victim’s family reported the crime to Kira Police Station, though no arrests have been made as of yet. There is growing suspicion that the robbery was premeditated, with the assailants believed to have been trailing the woman with prior knowledge of the cash.
MP Ssemujju Nganda and several online commentators have echoed concerns that the criminals were tipped off, highlighting a pattern of targeted daytime violence in the area. The incident has heightened fears among residents following recent murders and break-ins in nearby communities.
Police are reviewing the CCTV footage and have appealed to the public for information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects. Investigations are ongoing.
