Broad Daylight Abductions Spark Outrage and Fear as Police Remain Silent
Kampala, Uganda – December 13, 2025 – Uganda’s police force is facing mounting public pressure to break its silence following two high-profile abductions, including the brazen kidnapping of a woman and her daughter from a prominent social club in the capital.
The incident involving Sarah Nambogo, a well-known member of the Fast & Furious running club, has sent shockwaves through the community. According to a statement from her running club, Nambogo was seized at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday from the southern gate of the Kampala Club by five armed individuals traveling in a silver Toyota Noah, registration UBP 791G.
Witnesses reported that the group, which included a woman and was armed with an AK-47 rifle, first approached Nambogo’s daughter. The daughter was reportedly asked to lead them to her mother before both were forced into the vehicle and driven away. The club confirms that video footage of the incident exists.
The abduction has drawn condemnation from prominent figures. Robert Kabushenga, former CEO of Vision Group, directly challenged the police on social media, demanding to know “why & where” Nambogo and her daughter are being detained. Lawyer Eron Kiiza decried the “daily abductions” as “gross.”
A Pattern of Disappearances and Political Tensions
Adding to the climate of fear, the abduction of Nambogo is not an isolated case. Reports indicate that Rev. Fr. Deusdedit Ssekabira, the Youth Chaplain of Masaka Catholic Diocese, has been missing for several days after allegedly being abducted by armed men in a drone vehicle registration UBE 199F in Masaka. His phone lines remain switched off, causing panic within the local Catholic community. Unverified reports suggest his disappearance may be linked to his criticism of the government.
National Unity Platform (NUP) President Bobi Wine explicitly linked the two cases, citing them as evidence of “growing lawlessness.” He framed the incidents within the context of the reported bitter fallout between President Yoweri Museveni and opposition leader Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), suggesting the “feared holy places” are no longer exempt from the political conflict.
Official Vacuum Fuels Anger
As of Saturday morning, the Uganda Police Force has issued no official statement regarding either disappearance. This vacuum of information has fueled public anger and speculation, with figures like Prince Sega joining calls for “Justice for Sarah and her daughter.”
The abductions have raised serious questions about security and the rule of law, with citizens and observers awaiting urgent answers and action from authorities.
This is a developing story. More details will be provided as they emerge.
