Bryan White Appears Frail in Court as He Faces Human Sacrifice Charges
Makindye, Uganda — Disgraced city socialite Bryan White, whose real name is Brian Kirumira, appeared visibly frail in a Makindye courtroom on Tuesday as he and four others were formally charged in connection with the death of a 25-year-old woman in what prosecutors allege was a ritual killing.
White, 38, along with his wife and three other co-accused, faces charges of human sacrifice, manslaughter, and conspiracy to commit murder. The charges stem from the October 22, 2025, death of Caroline Nalubwama at White’s residence in Makindye, a suburb of Kampala.
Court Denies Bail on Health Grounds
The socialite’s lawyer made an urgent bail application citing his client’s deteriorating health, noting that White had previously collapsed while in custody. However, Chief Magistrate Sarah Basemera denied the request, ruling that investigations are still ongoing. All five accused have been remanded to Luzira Prison until April 16, when the case returns to court.
Observers in the courtroom noted White appeared weak and emaciated, a stark contrast to the flamboyant image he projected during his heyday as a philanthropist and city celebrity.
The Charges
Prosecutors allege that White and his co-accused murdered Nalubwama for ritual purposes, though details of the alleged rituals have not been publicly disclosed. The victim’s death has sent shockwaves through the community, with many struggling to reconcile the accusations with White’s public persona.
From Cash Giveaways to Criminal Accusations
Bryan White first shot to fame around 2018 when his foundation staged high-publicity cash giveaways across Kampala, handing out money to astonished crowds. The displays of generosity earned him a reputation as a eccentric but benevolent figure, and he amassed a significant following on social media.
However, his charitable activities also drew scrutiny. At the time, there were murmurs of money laundering suspicions, with some questioning the source of his sudden wealth. Those suspicions never led to formal charges—until now.
Public Shock and Online Reaction
The news of White’s arrest and court appearance has sparked a wave of reaction online, with many expressing disbelief at the dramatic fall from grace.
“From giving away money in the streets to being accused of taking a life for rituals—this is a story no one saw coming,” one X user commented.
Galaxy FM Zzina, a popular Ugandan entertainment outlet, shared images of White at court, simply captioning them: “City Socialite Brian White is back at Makindye Court.”
What’s Next
The accused will remain in custody until the April 16 hearing. Meanwhile, police investigations continue, and prosecutors are expected to build a fuller picture of the events leading to Nalubwama’s death.
For now, the man once known for spreading cash in the streets sits in a prison cell, his fortune and freedom hanging in the balance.
