Content Creator Kaitesi Gold Viv Explains Relocation: “I Moved to Nigeria to Find My Competition”

In a bold statement that has sparked reactions across social media, Ugandan content creator and social media personality Kaitesi Gold Viv has clarified her high-profile move from Kampala to Nigeria, asserting it was a strategic step to challenge herself rather than an act of fear.
The creator, who remains a dominant figure in Uganda’s digital space, stated that her relocation was driven by a lack of worthy competition at home.
“I relocated from Kampala to Nigeria not because of fear but because no one in Uganda was under my league of content creation,” she declared. “So I had to move and find my real competition.”
Despite being far from home, Kaitesi Gold Viv confidently highlighted her enduring top status, noting, “I’m far away from home but still ranked number one in Uganda.”
To underscore the caliber of competition she now seeks, she invoked the name of one of Nigeria’s most influential music executives, Don Jazzy. Her rhetorical question served as a pointed critique of the Ugandan creative industry’s hierarchy.
“By the way, if I’m rubbing shoulders with Don Jazzy everyday,” she asked, “who in Uganda is in the league of Don Jazzy?”
The statement has ignited a debate online, with some praising her ambition and global mindset, while others within Uganda have perceived it as a dismissive assessment of local talent. The comment underscores the magnetic pull of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, often seen as the continent’s creative hub, and the complex dynamics of pan-African competition in the digital age.
