Entebbe Airport Sees Strong Passenger Traffic and Robust Cargo Growth in September 2025

ENTEBBE, Uganda – Entebbe International Airport maintained a strong travel performance in September 2025, handling over 226,000 international passengers, according to the latest traffic figures. While slightly down from the previous month, the numbers underscore the airport’s consistent role as a key regional hub.
Last month, the airport registered a total of 226,301 international passengers. This was comprised of 105,043 arrivals and 121,258 departures, averaging 7,543 passengers moving through its terminals each day.
This figure represents a slight dip from the record-breaking traffic of August, which saw 243,089 passengers. However, aviation authorities highlight that the overall demand remains robust, driven by a steady mix of business travel, tourism, and a bustling calendar of conference activities in the region.
“The marginal month-to-month fluctuation is normal, but the underlying trend is one of sustained strength and growth,” said a representative from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority. “The consistent passenger volume, well above 7,500 per day, confirms the vibrant connectivity and economic activity centered on Entebbe.”
On the cargo front, the airport reported a significant and positive trend. Total cargo handled in September reached 5,882 metric tonnes, a notable increase from the 5,257 metric tonnes recorded in August.
A breakdown shows that exports led the way at 3,707 metric tonnes, significantly outpacing imports, which stood at 2,175 metric tonnes. This surge in export volume is a positive indicator for the country’s trade economy.
The combined strength in both passenger traffic and air cargo solidifies Entebbe International Airport’s pivotal role in facilitating not only travel and tourism but also serving as a critical gateway for Ugandan trade with the global market.
