FORGED DOCUMENT CIRCULATING ONLINE, NRM SECRETARIAT ISSUES STRONG REBUKE
The Office of the Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has issued a forceful denial of a document circulating on social media, branding it a complete fabrication.
The disputed document purports to be an internal memo from the Secretary General’s office regarding the facilitation of party flag bearers associated with the @NRMOnline handle.
In a clear and categorical statement, the Secretariat disowned the document entirely. “I categorically state that the said document is a FORGERY,” the notice read. It emphasized that the memo “did not originate from my office, was not authored, sanctioned, or issued by any authorized organ of the NRM Secretariat, and does not reflect the position, policy, or communication of the Party.”
The statement further criticized the content of the forged document, describing its contents, language, quoted figures, and manner of presentation as “false, misleading, and deliberately crafted to defame the Office of the Secretary General and mislead the public.”
Authorities have advised the public, party structures, and all stakeholders to completely disregard the document. “Members of the public… are advised to treat the document with the utmost contempt and disregard it in its entirety,” the statement cautioned, reiterating that official NRM communication is only disseminated through established and verifiable channels.
The Party also issued a stern warning to those behind the act, noting that the circulation of forged documents is criminal. “The Party reserves the right to pursue appropriate legal and administrative action against individuals involved in the creation and dissemination of this malicious falsehood,” the statement concluded.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about misinformation and the use of forged documents to create political discord. The NRM Secretariat’s response underscores its intent to control its official narrative and combat what it deems malicious fabrication.
