Kampala City Festival Postponed to October 12
KAMPALA – The highly anticipated Kampala City Festival has been rescheduled and will now take place on October 12, 2024. The announcement was made by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director, Ms. Sharifah Buzeki.

The decision to move the event from its original date of October 5 was reached following extensive consultations with security agencies and other key stakeholders. The primary reason for the change is to ensure the smooth execution of the nation’s 63rd Independence Day celebrations, scheduled for October 9.
A significant logistical consideration is the shared use of the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, which is designated as the main venue for both the national independence festivities and the city festival. The one-week postponement allows adequate time for the setup and dismantling of installations required for each event, ensuring both can be hosted seamlessly and securely.
Ms. Buzeki, on behalf of KCCA, communicated the update to the public, assuring festival-goers and participants that the new date was established to guarantee the safety and success of both important national and civic events.
The Kampala City Festival, known for its vibrant parade, music, and cultural displays, is now set to bring the city to life on October 12.
