The President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), Hon. Moses Magogo, has publicly addressed the growing criticism surrounding the national team’s chosen hotel, asserting that the facility is custom-built for football and has the full approval of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Magogo’s comments come in response to a wave of negative feedback in the media and from the public regarding the standard of the hotel housing the Uganda Cranes.

Speaking to journalists at the team’s base, Magogo acknowledged the public’s concerns but was quick to label many of the circulating publications as “false.”
“A football hotel is customised. It is not a general hotel where you want and whatever you want,” Magogo stated, emphasising the specialised nature of the facility.
He detailed several exclusive features designed to meet the high-performance needs of elite athletes. These include a dedicated kitchen where the team’s chefs can prepare meals to specific nutritional requirements and a custom-made gym tailored for football conditioning.
In a significant revelation, Magogo also highlighted ongoing developments that will further enhance the hotel’s suitability.
“As we speak right now, this facility, we are also developing the outdoor arena. And if you look through the windows, there’s a pitch which is being developed so that this hotel you can even be able to do a night training,” he explained.
The FUFA President concluded his defence by invoking the authority of CAF, football’s continental governing body. He reminded critics that the hotel had passed a stringent inspection process.
“CAF has to come and look at the amenities and this hotel was approved by CAF. According to the standards of the competition, who is more authoritative? Is it you, the competitor, or CAF?” Magogo challenged.
The statement aims to quell the controversy and reassure fans that the team’s preparation environment meets the highest standards set for international competition.
