Manchester United winger Amad Diallo will be absent from the squad for Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Brentford following the passing of a family member.
The news was confirmed by manager Ruben Amorim, who stated that the 23-year-old has returned home and is being supported by the club during this difficult time. Amorim emphasized that personal matters take precedence over football, telling reporters, “Amad is not with us as a member of his family passed away. We are giving all the support to Amad and understood he needed to return home.”
The manager also expressed the team’s desire to secure a positive result for their absent teammate, saying the squad aims to “win for Diallo.”
Amad’s absence adds to United’s selection challenges for the match, with the team also missing Noussair Mazraoui due to injury, Casemiro because of suspension, and Lisandro Martínez who is managing an ongoing fitness issue.
Fans have taken to social media to express their condolences and support for the Ivorian player, underscoring the human aspect that transcends the sport.
