
Marine Unit Rescues Seven in Lake Victoria Boat Incident

ENTEBBE, Uganda – A routine journey across Lake Victoria turned into a scene of distress on Saturday, prompting a swift and successful rescue operation by the Uganda Police Marine Unit based in Entebbe.

The unit received an urgent distress call regarding a passenger boat experiencing difficulties while en route from Kalangala Island to the Nakiwogo landing site. Details on the nature of the mechanical failure have not yet been released by authorities.

Responding immediately to the emergency, Marine Unit patrol boats were dispatched to the vessel’s last known location. Officers successfully located the stricken boat and proceeded to evacuate all seven passengers on board.
“In a display of commendable efficiency, our Marine Unit team responded to a distress call on Lake Victoria today,” a police spokesperson confirmed. “All seven individuals on the vessel were successfully rescued and brought to safety.”
Authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported from the incident. All passengers were reported to be in stable condition following the ordeal and were safely transported to the Nakiwogo landing site.
