
Medical Internship Deployment List Released for 2025-2026, Backlog Cleared
Kampala, 30th July 2025 – The Uganda Medical Internship Committee (UMIC) Secretariat has officially released the placement list for medical interns for the upcoming academic year, spanning from 3rd August 2025 to 31st July 2026. In a significant milestone, the Ministry of Health has confirmed that the backlog of pending placements has been fully cleared this year.
Key Details of the Placement
The list includes graduates who completed their training in 2025 and earlier, with the exception of nurses and midwives upgrading from Diploma level, whose internship requirement was waived under the Human Capital Development Program. The placements cover National Referral Hospitals, Regional Referral Hospitals, General Hospitals, and Private Not-For-Profit (PNFP) facilities serving as Internship Training Centres.
Instructions to Hospital Administrators
In a circular signed by Dr. Charles Olaro, Director General of Health Services, hospital executives were directed to:
- Ensure timely commencement of the internship program.
- Conduct facility-based induction/orientation for all interns before clinical deployments.
- Submit the list of reported interns by 15th August 2025 to facilitate allowance processing.
All deployed interns are expected to report to their respective stations by 3rd August 2025.
