Kampala, Uganda – August 1, 2025 — Mulago Specialised Women and Neonatal Hospital has marked yet another milestone in reproductive healthcare with the successful delivery of its second baby conceived through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
The healthy baby girl, weighing 3.6 kilograms, was born to proud parents Salim Malinga and Sayeed Rukusana, who expressed their gratitude and joy following the long-awaited arrival of their daughter.
The hospital began offering IVF services in August 2024 as part of its commitment to expanding advanced fertility treatment in Uganda. Since then, 11 pregnancies have been achieved under the program, signaling growing success in assisted reproductive technology at the national referral facility.
The Ministry of Health, through its “#MOHatWork” initiative, has lauded the progress, noting that the IVF programme is helping couples struggling with infertility realize their dreams of parenthood.
This development not only reflects advancements in Uganda’s healthcare system but also highlights the government’s dedication to improving maternal and neonatal care services.
