MV Laropi Ferry Services to Temporarily Halt for Maintenance in November 2025

The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced the temporary closure of the MV Laropi Ferry services, effective from November 10 to November 28, 2025.
In a public notice dated November 3, 2025, the Ministry stated that the suspension is necessary to allow a technical team to carry out scheduled periodic maintenance. This intervention is aimed at improving the reliability and safety of the ferry as a stop-gap measure ahead of a planned comprehensive repair and rehabilitation.
The MV Laropi Ferry is a vital link, connecting the districts of Moyo and Adjumani via the Laropi-Umi crossing.
Alternative Routes Provided
To minimize disruption, the public and all ferry users are advised to use the following alternative routes:
· Route 1: Kampala – Gulu – Adjumani – Obongi Ferry – Moyo
· Route 2: Kampala – Pakwach Bridge – Nebbi – Arua – Koboko – Yumbe – Moyo
These routes are also applicable for the return journey (vice versa).
The Ministry has apologized for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s patience during this period.
The notice was signed by Bageya Waiswa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport.
