ENTEBBE – The Uganda Police Force has announced an increase in the reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators behind the brutal murder of Mr. and Mrs. Mutaaga. The bounty has been raised from 50 million to 60 million shillings.
The announcement comes amid efforts to clarify a recent news report that suggested investigators had already identified the actual suspects. In a statement, the police force moved to correct this assertion, stating that while they have persons of interest, no formal identifications have been made.
“The Uganda Police Force continues to search for those responsible for the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Mutaaga in Entebbe,” the statement read. It confirmed that an initial reward of 50 million shillings had been offered for information leading to an arrest, based on a suspect’s photo and voice clip that were previously released to the public.
Addressing a report in the New Vision edition of Friday, 12 September 2025, the police clarified: “It was suggested that we have identified the actual suspects; however, this is not the case. For clarification, we highlighted individuals whom our investigative sources suspect may be connected to the crime.”
The force emphasized that its investigative process is still ongoing and that public details will only be released once concrete evidence is secured.
“Once conclusive evidence is established against any suspect(s), we will formally release their details to the public,” the statement assured.
The police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in the investigation to help bring the perpetrators to justice. The increased reward is intended to incentivize potential witnesses to provide crucial information.
