President Tinubu Announces Rescue of 38 Abducted Worshippers in Kwara, Recovery of 51 Niger State Students

ABUJA, Nigeria – In a significant update on the nation’s security situation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the successful rescue of all 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, and the recovery of 51 students from the Catholic School in Niger State.
The President made the announcement in a statement underscoring his administration’s focus on tackling insecurity, a priority that recently led him to cancel his trip to the G20 summit in South Africa.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued,” the President stated. He expressed equal satisfaction at the development in the Niger State case, confirming that “51 out of the missing students… have been recovered.”
The abductions, which occurred in quick succession, had heightened tensions across the country. The rescue of the worshippers and the recovery of a majority of the students will be seen as a positive and swift response by the nation’s security apparatus.
President Tinubu, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, assured citizens of his continuous vigilance, noting that he is “closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.”
Issuing a firm commitment to his primary duty of protecting lives and property, the President declared, “Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”
The statement is expected to reassure a concerned public while signaling a determined stance from the new administration against the spate of kidnappings and bandit attacks in parts of the country.
