Prime Minister Carney Extends Warm Birthday Wishes to King Charles III on His 77th Birthday

OTTAWA, ON – November 14, 2025 – Prime Minister Mark Carney issued a formal statement today on behalf of the Government of Canada to celebrate the 77th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III.
In his statement, the Prime Minister noted that Canadians were joining the Commonwealth and the world in marking the occasion. He highlighted the “deep and enduring bond” the King has shared with Canada over more than five decades, which includes 20 official visits.
The statement made special mention of the King’s most recent visit this past May, during which he delivered the Speech from the Throne. Prime Minister Carney underscored the historical significance of the event, noting it was the first time in nearly 70 years that a reigning monarch had addressed Canadians from Parliament.
“It was the first time in nearly 70 years that the reigning monarch addressed Canadians from Parliament – reaffirming the traditions, connections, and unity that carry us forward even in uncertain times,” Carney said.
The Prime Minister’s tribute also praised the King’s lifetime of service, pointing to his long-standing advocacy for climate action, conservation, health, and education. Carney stated that His Majesty has “long worked relentlessly to build a better world for future generations.”
“His actions serve as a reminder that leadership, at its best, is rooted in humility, curiosity, and a deep sense of responsibility to others,” the Prime Minister added.
Carney expressed gratitude for the King’s role in “stewarding the important relationship between Canada and the Crown,” a relationship he described as evolving to reflect the “strength, diversity, and confidence” of the Canadian people.
The statement concluded with the Prime Minister’s warmest wishes for The King’s special day, expressing hope that the year ahead would bring him “continued health, happiness, and strength in service.”
