The milestone event, known as Empango, has drawn congratulations from across Uganda and beyond, recognizing the King’s three decades of leadership since he ascended the throne at the tender age of three following the passing of his father.

The festivities commenced at the Karuziika Royal Palace in Fort Portal City, where guests and loyal subjects gathered. The day’s events began with a solemn prayer service led by the Bishop of Rwenzori Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Reuben Kisembo.
The occasion has been met with a wave of supportive messages from prominent institutions and figures. Muhoozi Kainerugaba himself stated he was “humbled” to represent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the celebrations.
In a statement, Gen. Kainerugaba congratulated King Oyo on the milestone and extended the government’s appreciation for the kingdom’s role in transforming the lives of its subjects. Major corporations, including MTN Uganda and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), also issued public messages of congratulations, wishing the King and the kingdom continued peace and prosperity.
Amid the celebrations, religious leaders took the opportunity to offer personal counsel to the 33-year-old King, gently reminding him of his duty to marry and secure the royal lineage.
The outpouring of support on social media has been unified under the hashtags #Empango30 and #EmpangoAt30, with well-wishers echoing the traditional cheers of “Hangiriza Agutamba!” and “Hangiriza Entale ya Tooro!” (Long live the King and the Tooro Kingdom).
