
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Uganda Set to Host CHAN 2025, Public Urged to Brace for Heavy Traffic
28 July 2025 | Kampala – Uganda is proud to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2025), one of the continent’s most prestigious football tournaments organized under the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The month-long event, running from August 2nd to 29th, is expected to attract national teams, football officials from CAF, FIFA, and FUFA, as well as thousands of fans from across Africa.
Heavy Traffic Expected in Kampala and Entebbe
With multiple venues designated for training and matches, significant traffic disruptions are anticipated in Kampala, Entebbe, and surrounding areas. The Uganda Police, in coordination with event organizers, has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to guide road users and ensure smooth movement throughout the tournament.

Match Day Access – Namboole Stadium:
Fans are advised to use Yusuf Lule Rd → Mulago → Kalerwe → Northern Bypass → Namboole Roundabout to reach the main venue.
Traffic Diversions:
To manage congestion, several diversions and restrictions will be enforced:
Naalya: Trucks rerouted via Kyaliwajjala–Ssonde
Seeta: Trucks diverted to Namugongo
Kinawataka: Trucks prohibited from accessing Kireka
Bweyogerere: Vehicles redirected via Kinawataka Rd (Jokas Hotel)
Kireka Trading Centre: Vehicle access restricted from Hared Petrol Station
Kireka–Jokas stretch: Open to pedestrians only
Parking Arrangements:
VIP Parking: Southern Wing of Mandela Stadium (Accredited Vehicles Only)
General Parking: As directed by the Traffic Police
Vehicle Accreditation Required for all parking zones
Security and Public Safety:
Heavy police presence will be maintained on all official routes
Escort vehicles will accompany team convoys
Strict adherence to traffic regulations is expected

Follow instructions from traffic officers
Plan travel early and anticipate delays
Remain patient and courteous on the roads
