The Ugandan rugby community is in mourning following the sudden death of former national team prop Ronald Adigasi. The 46-year-old collapsed and passed away on October 26 while on his way to his job at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.
Adigasi was a foundational figure in Ugandan rugby, most notably as a founding member of the Entebbe Mongers in 1998. He anchored the club’s front row for over two decades, becoming a stalwart and a respected leader. His commitment to the sport extended beyond his playing days, as he dedicated his time to mentoring young players until his final days.
His legacy is cemented in one of Ugandan rugby’s finest hours. Adigasi played a key role in the historic 42-11 victory over Madagascar in the 2007 Confederation of African Rugby Cup final. The win secured Uganda’s first-ever continental rugby title, a landmark achievement for the nation.
In the wake of his passing, tributes have poured in from across the rugby community, universally highlighting Adigasi’s unwavering loyalty and profound humility. He is remembered not just as a fierce competitor on the field, but as a beloved figure who helped shape the sport for future generations in Uganda.
