NAIROBI, Kenya – The Uganda High Commission in Kenya has paid its formal respects following the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, in a solemn ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya.
The delegation was led by Ms. Doreen Ruyondo, the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Uganda High Commission, and Brigadier General McDans Kamugira, the Defence Attaché. The two senior officials signed the official condolence book on behalf of the Mission and the people of Uganda.
The act, conducted on Tuesday afternoon, is a diplomatic gesture of solidarity and shared grief with the people and government of Kenya. It serves as a formal tribute to the life and legacy of the late Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, a towering figure in Kenyan and East African politics.
The signing of the condolence book underscores the deep historical ties and brotherly relationship between Uganda and Kenya. The late Raila Odinga, who served as Kenya’s Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013, is remembered for his immense contribution to Kenya’s democratic development and his enduring impact on the socio-political landscape of the entire East African Community.
