Major General Steven Sabitti Muzeyi, a high-ranking Ugandan military official and former deputy inspector general of police, was involved in a serious road accident on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
The incident occurred on the Masaka-Mbarara highway in Lwengo district when the General’s convoy collided with a lorry transporting cattle. Major General Muzeyi and his wife, who were both injured in the crash, were promptly airlifted to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala for emergency medical treatment.
According to reports, the senior officer was returning from a traditional giveaway ceremony for President Yoweri Museveni’s granddaughter when the accident happened. A rapid emergency response led by the UPDF (Uganda People’s Defence Forces) ensured the injured received immediate care.
By Sunday, September 14th, the General’s condition had stabilized. A post on X by Simon Kaheru confirmed that “He has received treatment and is now out of danger and already recovering steadily.”
The crash has sparked an official investigation and has reignited public discourse about road safety on Ugandan highways, a topic that has drawn mixed reactions on social media.
Major General Muzeyi currently serves as the deputy CEO of the National Enterprise Corporation, the commercial arm of the UPDF.
