Apac Army Recruitment Exercise Turns Tragic as Applicant Collapses and Dies
Apac District – A Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) recruitment exercise in Apac District ended in tragedy on Friday after a young applicant collapsed and died shortly after completing a physical fitness run.
The deceased, identified as 22-year-old Dono Solomon, was participating in a short-distance run, one of the mandatory stages of the army recruitment process, when he suddenly collapsed.
Eyewitnesses said Solomon had successfully completed the run before his condition deteriorated, leaving army officers and fellow recruits in shock. Efforts to resuscitate him proved futile, and he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Authorities are yet to release details on the cause of death, but medical examinations are expected to be conducted.
The UPDF has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, which has cast a shadow over the ongoing recruitment exercise in the region.
