Aspiring Entebbe MP Albert Fredrick Mukungu Campaigns on Pledges of Technology, Healthcare, and Direct Support
ENTEBBE – Albert Fredrick Mukungu, a UK-based medical professional and son of the late Sulpiso Ssemakula Semogerere and Mildred Semogerere Nakku, is intensifying his campaign to become the next Member of Parliament for Entebbe Municipality, promising a slate of modern development initiatives.
Door-to-door campaigning, Mukungu is presenting a manifesto focused on youth empowerment, healthcare improvement, and direct financial support. His key pledges include the distribution of 500 iPads to underprivileged families, the donation of 500 hospital beds to local health facilities, and the provision of medical insurance for elderly citizens. He has also promised a $100 monthly support package for poor families and hinted at facilitating youth exchange programs and recruiting foreign doctors (referred to as Bazungu doctors).
Mukungu, described as a “new political hybrid” with “generational ideas,” has gained prominence in recent months as a challenger to the incumbent, Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa. He aims to follow in the political footsteps of his father despite his residence in the diaspora.
The race for the Entebbe parliamentary seat is shaping up to be highly competitive. Mukungu will face a crowded field including the incumbent Kakembo, NRM’s Stephen Gashaija, former Entebbe Mayor Vicent Kayanja Depaul, NUP’s Joyce Namuli Nabatta, and independents Irene Nantumbwe and Scholastica Najemba, among others.
The general elections are scheduled for next week.
