Busoga, Uganda | August 25, 2025 – National Unity Platform (NUP) President Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has called on former Speaker of Parliament Hon. Rebecca Kadaga to abandon the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and join the opposition.
Speaking while opening new party offices in Busoga earlier today, Bobi Wine praised Kadaga’s political influence and legacy, arguing that she would be “more respected in the opposition than in Museveni’s government.”
“Kadaga has served this nation with strength, and she deserves a space where her voice will not be undermined. That space is in the struggle for change, not in NRM,” Kyagulanyi said.
Sources within the NUP leadership revealed that if Kadaga crosses over to the party, she could be offered a top position with attractive benefits, including a competitive salary and strategic international connections with world leaders.
Kadaga, who has long been a key figure in Busoga and national politics, has yet to respond to the appeal. Her political future remains a point of speculation, especially as opposition parties continue to strengthen their presence in the run-up to the 2026 general elections.
