
Chinese Manager Assaults Kenyan Worker at Eldoret Factory, Victim Chooses Forgiveness

ELDORET, Kenya – A viral video from November 15, 2025, has exposed a violent workplace incident at the TCM Mabati Rolling Mills in Eldoret, showing Chinese manager Xiao Jianzhoun striking Kenyan employee Andrew Kagua with an iron sheet during a confrontation.
The footage sparked immediate and widespread public outrage on social media, with many Kenyans condemning the act. The incident also drew a strong response from trade unions, with Francis Atwoli, Secretary General of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU), leading calls for the manager’s deportation.
The altercation reportedly stemmed from underlying tensions at the factory, where workers have alleged forced overtime and unsafe working conditions.
In an unexpected turn of events, the victim, Andrew Kagua, has since forgiven the manager. According to posts on social media, Kagua has decided to remain in his job at the factory.
Authorities in Uasin Gishu County have confirmed they are investigating the incident. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the assault.
