KAMPALA – A prominent Ugandan religious leader, Apostle John Mulinde of World Trumpet Mission, has been granted a divorce from his wife, Sheila, after legally establishing that two children he raised as his own were born outside of their marriage.
The divorce was formalized through a consent judgement issued on May 22, 2025. The court document confirmed that the two children, now aged 13 and 5, are not the biological children of Apostle Mulinde. The children’s names have been withheld from the public record.
The case has drawn significant attention due to Apostle Mulinde’s high profile as an international evangelist. According to the judgement, the paternity discovery came after many years of him raising the children as his own. It was agreed that Sheila Mulinde would relinquish custody of all the children to him.
Sources close to the matter suggest that the circumstances leading to the adultery were linked to the apostle’s demanding ministry schedule. His frequent international travels often left his wife at home for extended periods. Those familiar with the situation describe a scenario of loneliness, where Sheila, in her search for companionship, made “bad moves” that resulted in the births of the two children.
The revelation that the children were not his biological offspring has been described as a profound personal betrayal for the apostle, who had dedicated years to their upbringing. The consent judgement brings a legal conclusion to the marriage, finalizing a painful and lengthy personal chapter for the religious leader.
The terms of the divorce, aside from the custody arrangement, remain private. Apostle Mulinde has yet to make a public statement on the matter.
