
Wakiso, Uganda | July 30, 2025 — The Electoral Commission of Uganda has officially broken ground for the construction of its permanent headquarters in Lubowa-Lweza, Wakiso District. The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone in enhancing the Commission’s institutional capacity and its ability to deliver efficient electoral services to the people of Uganda.
The new facility is expected to house purpose-built office spaces, warehousing facilities, and an integrated ICT infrastructure. Once complete, it will consolidate all essential electoral operations under one roof, streamlining workflows and boosting accessibility for stakeholders and the general public.
The construction project is being undertaken by the National Housing and Construction Company Ltd (NHCC), with full backing from the Government of Uganda. The development underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring that the Electoral Commission is adequately equipped to manage future electoral processes.
Officials at the event emphasized that the new headquarters will not only modernize the Commission’s operations but also reflect its dedication to transparency, efficiency, and service delivery in Uganda’s democratic processes.
