Entebbe Mayor Calls Community to Plant “Hope and Memory” in Kitubulu Forest
ENTEBBE – In a powerful and evocative appeal, the Mayor of Entebbe Municipality, Fabrice Brad Rulinda, has invited residents and nature lovers to a significant tree-planting exercise aimed at restoring the vital Kitubulu Forest Reserve. The event is scheduled for this Friday, 17th October 2025.
Describing the forest as “the green heart that has kept Entebbe alive for generations,” the Mayor’s invitation frames the initiative not as a mere ceremonial activity, but as a crucial community purpose. He emphasized Kitubulu’s role as “the breath of our town” and “the unseen shield that guards our homes when the waters of the lake rise.”
The call to action comes with a poignant reflection on global environmental efforts. “For too long, we have watched the world struggle to restore what we still have, planting trees that we are busy cutting down,” the Mayor stated, asserting that “This time, Entebbe must lead differently.”
The event is positioned as a legacy project for future generations. “We will not just plant trees. We will plant hope. We will plant memory,” the invitation reads, aiming to ensure that when children ask what was done to help, the community can answer “with pride that we stood up and planted life back into the soil.”
Stressing that the day is about action over speeches, Mayor Rulinda called on the community to bring their hands, families, and spirit to contribute to the land that sustains them. The underlying message is a redefinition of wealth, not in buildings, but in “balance,” and in the natural resources that provide sustenance and shelter.
The gathering will take place at the Kitubulu Forest Reserve at 9:00 AM this Friday. The initiative seeks to reinforce a core principle for Entebbe: that the community does not cut its roots, but plants them deeper for the sake of its children, Lake Victoria, and Uganda.
