
Entebbe Municipal Council TPC Benchmarks Mbarara City’s Best Practices in Urban Management
Entebbe, Uganda – In a bid to enhance service delivery and urban management, the Entebbe Municipal Council’s Technical Planning Committee (TPC) has conducted a benchmarking visit to Mbarara City. The visit focused on gaining firsthand insights into Mbarara’s approaches to infrastructure development, solid waste management, revenue mobilization, and market administration.
During the engagement, the Entebbe TPC team explored Mbarara City’s innovative strategies and practical solutions that have enabled it to manage rapid urban growth while improving service delivery. Key areas of interest included Mbarara’s integrated infrastructure planning, efficient solid waste collection systems, digitized revenue collection mechanisms, and structured market administration models that support both vendors and city authorities.
The benchmarking visit is part of Entebbe Municipal Council’s ongoing efforts to adopt tested and effective urban management practices as it positions itself for city status. Officials from both cities engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at strengthening inter-municipal collaboration and replicating successes.
The Entebbe TPC team expressed appreciation to Mbarara City leadership for the warm reception and openness, noting that the insights gathered will inform the municipality’s strategic planning and service improvement agenda.
