KAMPALA – Norbert Events, a well-known events promoter and vocal NRM supporter, was briefly arrested last weekend at the Kololo Independence Grounds. The arrest occurred during an event organized by Bodaboda riders to celebrate President Yoweri Museveni’s birthday.
According to sources, the promoter was taken into custody and detained at the Central Police Station (CPS). Norbert Events himself confirmed the incident by recording and sharing an audio message online, detailing his arrest.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Patrick Onyango, confirmed the detention. Onyango stated that Norbert was being held for questioning in connection to the recent assault on Presidential Adviser Jennifer Nakanguubi, popularly known as Full Figure.
The arrest appears to be directly linked to a video Norbert Events posted online shortly after footage of Full Figure being beaten went viral. In his video, the promoter was seen dancing and seemingly celebrating the attack on the presidential adviser. This public reaction made him a person of interest to the investigating authorities.
The police are continuing their interrogation to establish if there was any further involvement beyond the celebratory social media post. The incident has sparked significant discussion on social media about the limits of free speech and the consequences of publicly endorsing acts of violence.
