KAMPALA – A public rift appears to have opened between social commentator and Sisimuka Uganda boss Frank Gashumba and his protégée, Aisha Nabukeera, after he was reportedly not invited to her introduction ceremony.
According to sources close to the matter, the ceremony, where Nabukeera formally introduced her lover to her family, proceeded over the weekend without Gashumba’s presence. The snub is said to have deeply displeased the outspoken media personality.
The matter escalated to the public sphere early Monday morning when a visibly upset Gashumba took to his regular radio show to voice his grievances. In a fiery segment, he did not hold back his feelings of betrayal and disappointment.
In a pointed Luganda statement that has since gone viral on social media, Gashumba proclaimed, “Tewali masikini gw’enyambye y’enna anzijukide,” which loosely translates to, “There is no poor person in my family that I don’t know.” The adage is traditionally used to express shock and indignation at being overlooked or taken for granted by someone one has significantly helped uplift.
The comment is widely interpreted as a direct message to Nabukeera, implying that Gashumba played a pivotal role in her life and upbringing and that her failure to include him in the milestone event was a profound act of ingratitude.
Gashumba has been a prominent figure in Nabukeera’s life for years, often referring to her as the girl he raised and championing her endeavours. The apparent fallout has therefore surprised many who followed their relationship.
As of press time, Aisha Nabukeera has not publicly responded to Gashumba’s on-air comments. Attempts to get a comment from her or representatives from Sisimuka Uganda have been unsuccessful.
The incident has sparked a heated debate online, with opinions divided between those who believe Gashumba is entitled to feel hurt and those who argue that an invitation to a personal ceremony is a privilege, not an obligation.
