JUST IN: Former Bishop Stuart University Guild President and Aspiring MP Denmark Beinomugisha Dies After Hotel Fall
Mbarara, Uganda – August 7, 2025 — Tragedy has struck the political and academic community in Mbarara City following the sudden death of Denmark Adious Beinomugisha, a former guild president of Bishop Stuart University and aspiring Member of Parliament for Mbarara City South.
Beinomugisha was pronounced dead early this morning at Mayanja Memorial Hospital in Mbarara, where he had been rushed after reportedly falling from a staircase at Grand Holiday Hotel on the evening of August 6. According to preliminary reports, he slipped after missing a step, leading to severe injuries that claimed his life hours later.
The news has sent shockwaves through political circles and among university alumni, with many expressing sorrow at the loss of a promising young leader.
At the time of his passing, Beinomugisha was actively involved in mobilization under the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), a growing opposition political movement. Known for his charisma and community engagement, he had declared his intention to contest for the Mbarara City South parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections.
Just days before his death, Beinomugisha spoke with this publication in an interview published on August 4, where he expressed concern about the limited visibility of opposition parties in the Ankole sub-region. His remarks highlighted his desire to see a more vibrant and representative political landscape in western Uganda.
A Budding Leader Silenced Too Soon
Beinomugisha’s journey from student leadership to national politics had made him a rising star, particularly among the youth in Ankole. As former guild president of Bishop Stuart University, he was known for advocating student welfare and civic awareness.
“He had a clear vision for leadership and believed in empowering young people,” said one of his former university colleagues. “His death is not only a loss to Mbarara but to Uganda’s future.”
