Frank Gashumba Warns TikTok Star Chicken Chicken Over “Reckless” Online Remarks
Social commentator Frank Gashumba has publicly cautioned popular media personality and TikToker Chicken Chicken against making reckless statements online, urging him not to let financial incentives cloud his judgment.
The warning came during a live TikTok session, where Gashumba addressed Chicken, who boasts 1.5 million followers on the platform. This follows recent backlash against Chicken for defending businessman Karim Hirji, who was accused of mistreating the children of the late Mzee Ramesh Narundas Ruperelia.
“Chicken, my brother, I’m begging you, never allow money to drive your mind,” Gashumba stated emphatically. “The internet does not sleep. The words you say today will follow you in future. Most people don’t know the impact of the words they use.”
Gashumba reminded the TikTok star of a previous incident where comments made during a visit to Rwanda damaged the country’s image, noting that Rwanda invests heavily in tourism as a key economic driver. “Rwanda is a poor country and its main source of income is tourism. In places like Dubai, they don’t allow TV stations to show crime because it affects the country’s image,” he said, suggesting Chicken later realized his mistake and apologized.
Speaking from personal experience, Gashumba admitted he carefully watches his own words during media appearances because he knows “anything can go south.” He referenced his own past consequences, including issuing an apology last year to the Prime Minister of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, for abusive comments he had made.
The commentator’s advice underscores the lasting digital footprint of public statements and the potential real-world repercussions for influencers.
