Gen. Muhoozi Clarifies Incursion: “It Wasn’t SSPDF, But Terrorist Groups”
Kampala, Uganda | August 6, 2025 — The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has clarified that the armed elements that entered Ugandan territory last month were not troops from the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), but rather a mix of terrorist groups opposed to the government in Juba.
In a strong statement issued today, Gen. Muhoozi emphasized that the threat was being taken seriously and affirmed Uganda’s commitment to jointly confront these groups alongside the South Sudanese military.
“The enemy that entered Ugandan territory last month was not SSPDF. It was an assortment of terrorist groups opposed to Juba. We shall deal with them jointly with SSPDF,” the CDF declared.
His remarks come amid rising security concerns along the Uganda–South Sudan border, following recent clashes that had sparked speculation about involvement of regular forces from the neighboring country.
Gen. Muhoozi’s reassurance signals a growing collaboration between Kampala and Juba in maintaining regional stability and neutralizing armed groups that threaten cross-border peace.
