Kampala, August 15, 2025 – The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has promised imminent changes at Uganda Airlines, warning that those involved in corruption will face arrest.
In a statement issued today, Gen. Muhoozi revealed that, veteran journalist and political analyst Andrew Mwenda, has been regularly briefing him on developments and alleged irregularities within the national carrier.
“My brother, Andrew Mwenda, has been bringing me reports on Uganda Airlines for a long time. We are going to make changes soon. We shall definitely arrest the corrupt,” Gen. Muhoozi stated.
His remarks come amid growing public concern over the airline’s management and financial performance. Although he did not provide specific details on the planned reforms or potential suspects, the CDF stressed that accountability and transparency will be enforced.
Uganda Airlines, which resumed operations in 2019 after nearly two decades of dormancy, has faced periodic scrutiny over procurement, staffing, and operational efficiency.
