
Ghanaian Authorities Arrest 32 Nigerians in Major Cybercrime Raid
ACCRA, Ghana – In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in collaboration with National Security operatives, has arrested 32 Nigerian nationals for their alleged involvement in a range of cybercrimes, including romance scams.
The coordinated operation targeted a suspected cybercrime hub in Tuba, a community within the Greater Accra Region on the outskirts of the capital, Accra. During the raid, law enforcement officers seized 31 laptops and 15 mobile phones believed to have been used in the illicit activities.
All 32 suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. The seized electronic devices have been sent for detailed forensic analysis to gather evidence and uncover the full scope of the alleged criminal network.
In a statement, the CSA confirmed that this operation is a direct component of its sustained national campaign to identify, disrupt, and dismantle cybercrime networks operating within the country. The authority emphasized its commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s digital ecosystem and protecting citizens from online threats.
The Ghanaian government has pledged its continued support for the CSA’s enforcement drive, underscoring a broader national effort to combat cybercrime and enhance cybersecurity infrastructure. This arrest highlights the transnational nature of cybercrime in West Africa and the increasing regional cooperation and domestic action being taken to address it.
