Ghanaian Police Arrest Prophet Over Apocalyptic Prediction
ACCRA, Ghana – Ghanaian police have arrested self-styled prophet Evans Eshun, widely known as Eshun Noah or “Ebo Noah,” following a series of doomsday prophecies that caused significant public anxiety and drew global attention.
Eshun was apprehended by the Inspector General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team. Authorities stated the arrest is part of broader efforts to monitor and curb cyber-related activities ahead of New Year’s Eve religious services, which often attract large gatherings.
The prophet had claimed to have received a divine revelation that the world would end on Christmas Day, 2025, in a cataclysmic global flood. Last month, his predictions escalated from words to action when he constructed eight large wooden structures, which he termed “arks,” in the Eastern Region. He insisted that only those who entered these arks would survive the impending disaster.
These claims ignited a firestorm of fear, curiosity, and debate both within Ghana and across international social media platforms, leading to widespread public concern.
Police have not yet detailed the specific charges against Eshun but indicated his online activities and public pronouncements, which they allege incited panic, were a key factor in the arrest. The case highlights ongoing tensions between religious expression and public order in the country, particularly concerning prophecies that authorities deem to threaten social stability.
