Kampala, Uganda – Following Uganda’s elimination from the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN), officials have expressed concern over the sharp decline in fan turnout at Namboole Stadium. To reignite the spirit of support and ensure that the tournament retains its vibrant atmosphere, the Government of Uganda has stepped in with an unprecedented gesture.
Through the Office of the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Mama Janet Kataaha Museveni, government has purchased all tickets for Ugandan fans, allowing them to watch the matches free of charge.
The initiative is intended both as a token of appreciation to Ugandans for supporting the national team and as encouragement to continue backing the other countries competing in the tournament.
“Football is a unifying force, and we want Ugandans to remain part of this continental celebration, even though the Cranes are out of the competition,” Mama Janet stated while announcing the move.
As a result, tomorrow’s clash between Senegal and Sudan, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Namboole Stadium, will be open to all Ugandans without any ticket cost. Authorities expect the gesture to refill the stands and restore the electric atmosphere that has been missing since Uganda’s exit.
Sports analysts say the decision will not only boost the morale of the participating teams but also promote Uganda as a hospitable and supportive host nation
