Government to Purchase Mayuge Sugar Factory for Busoga Cane Farmers — Museveni
President Yoweri Museveni has announced plans for the government to purchase the Mayuge sugar factory to benefit local sugarcane farmers across the Busoga sub-region.
Speaking during a meeting with sugarcane farmers, millers, and sugar manufacturers at the State Lodge in Mayuge District, Museveni said that although he had earlier pledged to construct a new mill in Busoga, the current plan is to acquire an already established factory.
The move is aimed at boosting the earnings of local farmers, improving market access for their cane, and strengthening the region’s sugar industry.
