The High Court in Kampala has dismissed an application by former Aruu County Member of Parliament, Hon. Odonga Otto, seeking a judicial review of the Electoral Commission’s decision to halt leadership changes in the Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP).
In a ruling delivered on Friday, Justice Simon Peter M. Kinobe held that Otto’s application was misconceived, noting that it was essentially an internal party dispute rather than a challenge to the decision-making process of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Otto has accused top government officials of deliberately frustrating his efforts to form and lead a political party, questioning why his attempts have been blocked while other politicians such as Mathias Mpuuga, Muhammad Nsereko, and Mubaraka Munyagwa were allowed to successfully register and lead their political formations.
Speaking after the ruling, Otto expressed disappointment, saying he was determined to pursue political organization despite what he described as unfair treatment from the authorities.
The dismissal of his application leaves the future of Otto’s political ambitions uncertain, as he continues his push to gain control of the RPP.
